That 80's Show

Way back in June, I was invited by my friend Lauren to take some photos of a concert she was hosting with her singing students. I'm always one to support a friend and their creative endeavors, so I was all for it!

The concert was 80's themed. Everything from the costumes to the songs were full blown 80's and you better believe that it was the bizznass! Some of my personal classics were performed; such legendary hits as With or Without You, Sunglasses at Night and Sweet Child 'O Mine. You could tell a lot of hard work went into the preperation of the show, whether it was the set pieces or the band learning the songs. I was uber impressed!

It was a great show. The kids were superstars on that stage and showed a lot of courage and talent. Cheers Lo, you directed and produced a fantastic concert! Here are some photos that I put off for far too long; hope you enjoy them!

There is a lot more where this came from! Click here to see a boat load of photos from the show. Remember folks, I'm freelance and for hire!

City and Colour

We're not talking about the Canadian folk singer Dallas Green. We're talking about how fun it is to play with colour!

Open Doors

The saying goes, when one door closes another one opens. This proverb means that when one opportunity is washed up, another one becomes available.

Doors serve as the perfect metaphor. They are the passages we must go through to get to our locations. Doors close to keep people and things out. They open to invite them in. Doors can reveal pleasant surprises while they could also hide terrible secrets. A closed door is a rather mysterious thing. There is no saying what lies behind until you decide to step through. Doormen protect certain doors. Only once you have been granted access shall you enter through their doors, much in the same way the once popular football star from high school protects the door of a trendy nightclub on a Friday night. At the mercy of the doorman, one must follow their rules or know someone on the inside that can vouch for them. Beware of doormen! Charm and charisma may not always work!

Finding a job out of University has been an extremely frustrating experience. You assume all doors are open once you attain a degree, however, this can't be any further from the truth. It's not easy getting used to having doors shut in my face, but perhaps I have just been trying to enter to wrong doors. Another door has been closed, but maybe someone else needed to enter more then me? Maybe they were more experienced? Maybe they have been looking to enter longer then I have? Maybe that door just wasn't the one I was supposed to go through? Who's to say really. At least I can say I got close. Another door else where has opened and I'm going to make the best of it because it's not always about the destination, rather, the journey; but that's a whole different proverb altogether.
